I got this program because I had been told I could use an image as a webcam source. The idea was to do that in windows live messenger, since I don't own an actual webcam.

I go to File > Video Source > Image File, select a smallish .bmp, which then appears in the viewport. I click the Play button, and apparently that should be it. But messenger says it couldn't connect to my webcam.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing a step? Does this program not do what I'm trying to accomplish?

Hello

It's hard to understand you. Please make screenshots of messages in where messenger says it couldn't connect to my webcam, your messanger window and SplitCam window at the moment when you receive the message window.
Additionally please tell me exact version of you messenger.
